Digital Alarm Clock

The digital alarm clock displays the time of the day digitally; it uses numbers not hands. It can be set a sound as bell or buzzer at the desired hour, specifically to wake a person up. Using the digital alarm clock enables the individual to come on time and avoid coming late.

Today, modern alarm clocks have digital components that replaced main springs with batteries and clock work is swapped for circuit bands. The design of digital alarm clocks varies, but you should be familiar with their most common features.

* Display – The LCD or LED screen is what they commonly have. This part will show time and indicate whether it is AM or PM. It also displays when the alarm was indicated or what time it was set to beep or buzz or alternative source radio. Some are complete even with the date.

* Button and Switches – The snooze button in large and centrally located. Pressing it when alarm sounded will silence it but only for a while. Clock setting control has two or more buttons, allowing users to change the time or alarm by cycling the hours and minutes. Frequently used are the up and down arrows to tell the direction of the time cycle.

* Power Source – The clock requires electricity or battery to operate. Electricity can be for normal use and battery when there is a brown out or the clock is unplugged.

* Internal Circuitry – Digital clocks have fewer parts internally. The clock and alarm are located in a single circuit band.

* AM/PM Radio – Alarm clocks have dual function, as time keeper and radio. But they can function independently from each other.

* Speaker – There maybe one or two speakers for the alarm and playing music from the radio. The higher models may even have stereo-multi channel sounds. But commonly, there is only a single speaker with mono sound capacity.

An advantage cited of the digital alarm clock is that it saves power but its disadvantage is the difficulty to manage the clock because of its complicated set-up and design.
